Video #1: What Is Media Literacy?
The information I feel was important from this video was that there are two different trends withing media studies, created to challenge and encourage the first trend and minimize the second as much as possible. I found that fascinating that there were different parts and concepts to media.
Another thing I also found interesting was that there are many figures in the world who control media studies which leads to some conflict within the world.
In my view point I always consider media just going on your phone and logging into Facebook, i did not think it went as far as this.

A very big topic that I noticed during the second video was how differently other people view the same media messages. Many media pages try not to discriminate against anyone, but somehow someone always gets left out.
The second biggest topic that was portrayed in this video was "Why is this Message being Sent?" to gain power or profit. Many media sights tend to lean towards gaining profit in my opinion, then power second.
This connects to my life in the media world because, I for one, do not take anything with the media to heart or ever feel left out by things because I do not care enough, although I should.

Good work Darian, I really enjoied reading your blog post. I also found it intesting about the diffrent parts of media because I did not really know about the diffrent parts either. This was a good blog and i enjoyed reading it.

ReplyDeleteThis course does explore the different elements in media construction, particularly in video/film and advertising. I think there is a tendency today to see media as primarily being social media. But keep in mind that many social media sites have different examples of media that also can stand alone: video, text, photos, audio, etc.

Good work Darian, I really enjoyed reading it. I think that the different parts of the media were interesting too, and I didn't know what the different parts were either until I watched the video.
